I'm guessing you will be heating your mash/HLT water early in the morning or the night before. I know you've heated it up the night before in the past.

I wish my brewdays were 4 hours. With a 6 hour brew day it becomes an all day event and is very hard to find time to fit it in.

Yes, my HLT is leak free, so I can fill it and start it up whenever I want. The cooler maintains temps so well that the element will only click on a couple times each hour after it reaches its set temp.

Got my replacement mill yesterday... adjusted to .033" and it is ready to go. Everything is a GO for this brew tomorrow.

Dumping my Spiced Holiday Ale today since it got infected. Prepping the fermentor for tomorrow!

Too bad you can't have this happening when I'm not at work! I might be able to poke my head in, but I really don't want to get caught watching brewing at work.

your linky is missing to the webcast site.

You know I will be there. I have my daughter in the morning. What happened to the spiced ale? you have a thread on the infection somewhere?

Yes I have a thread on the Spiced Ale infection... probably lacto from grain dust that was introduced during the dry hop.

The link is missing? Really? Let me fix that.

I bought 1# of Indian Coriander for $3 at the grocery store and 1# of sweet orange peel from Mid-Country during our bulk buy for $6.

I could really use these both in bulk... as I love them. Thanks for the heads up and making me feel like a heel!

I don't see the part where you spill a couple gallons of wort on the floor of the garage. Is that around the 12:40 mark?

As I recall, some wort was spilled on the last brewcast you did. No?

Boil over... because YOU GUYS were distracting me! Tomorrow, I am going to ignore yall while important things are going on!

It is on like Donkey Kong. HLT is already warmed up!

Damn Pol. You always do these things at like 6:00AM PST. At least last time it was a weekend morning. How about an evening brewcast? :)

Well, I pretty much work every Saturday and Sunday... and during the week, my daughter gets home at 4pm, so I try to get started nice and early (sometimes 6am) and get things cleaned up so that I can see her. I rarely see her as it is.

I will have to do an afternoon broadcast sometime, I am brewing once every three weeks or so now, so I will have to work that out.

Morning all, everything is ready to go.

Grain milled.
Coriander crushed.
Water salts weighed.
Hops weighed.
HLT is warmed up.
Fermentor cleaned and sanitized.

I am really just waiting until 9am to start now. Hopefully LiveStream will cooperate today without too many glitches.

I was going to brew today, but I'm still sitting here drinking coffee. My grain isn't crushed, the water isn't heating, all of the stuff is still in the basement. Maybe you'll inspire me to get off my butt and brew!

Damn I missed it! I was looking forward to it but I had to leave this morning for a family issue. Hope it was fun and hopefully you'll have another brewcast sometime.

Water Adjusting...

The brew day went pretty smoothly...

I did have a HUGE doughball issue when I mashed in. MO is very sticky, as some have reported. I have never had doughballs like this and it took some time to bust them up.

I also has my first stuck mash... it stuck about 10 minutes into the HERMS recirc. A quick stir and prime of the pump and it ran flawlessly for the remainder of the mash, mashout etc.

I did run the sparge a little slower than normal, as I was a little gun shy from the stuck recirc. earlier.

The preboil gravity was 1.049 at 7.6 gallons
Post-boil gravity was 1.068 at 5.5 gallons for 83% eff.

I pulled off 1600ml from the boil kettle to use for my starter, the yeasties look happy...

Nice brewcast! I wish I could have watched the whole thing. I had to sneak peeks at work and sometimes actually had to leave my desk and WORK!

I should test out the webcam and Laptop and see about doing one of these. Then I can have viewers help me brew!
