I trimmed back the heat shrink on the probes a little. I use two rubber O-rings in the compression fitting. They seal well and do not leak.

I thought about thermowells, but went with compression fittings installed in tee-s. I've heard if you use thermowells, you may have to use thermal grease for good contact between the probe and the themowell.

Maybe that is why my temperature if off and there is a lag. I am using analog thermometer and will be making the change to all electric soon.

so i recently bought my hosehead 3BC and built my 3 kettle HERMS system. i could not be more happy with the customer service that Corey provided with the set up and some initial issues that i had.

my first two brew sessions went pretty bad though. i had issues with the controller crashing and with Elsinore. I have since learned that the controller cant sustain running the Elsinore software and accessing the software through built in browsers. In other words, the Ras pi doesnt have enough computing power to do it all. I have (as is suggested by Corey) started access Elsinore through an IP address on my home network and its much better. i have had none of the issues with the controller crashing like i did before.

I know some people on here are nervous about Elsinore and ripping on the software a bit, and I really think that is unfair to Doug. This software (limited and buggy as it may be) is the best thing there is right now and best of all, it is free! I was able to purchase a controller for $500!! Thats a deal! FuzzeWuzze can build the same thing for less money probably and still use a free software to do all the thinking!

I think people who are looking at Hosehead or Elsinore to run on their own system need to know that you can use this software and it works really well. There are some issues with customization but i would love to see you customize a Kal like panel in real time. doesnt happen.

just my opinion. I am happy with my setup and wouldnt change a thing. Thank you Corey and Doug for doing all the work for me so I can just get right to brewing!

Anyone got specific instructions on how to "access Elsinore through an IP address on my home network and its much better. i have had none of the issues with the controller crashing like i did before." I am pretty computer illiterate.

Thanks in advance.

My stepson is an uber genius double major in electrical and computer engineering. He makes operating systems for his phone for fun and built a CPU last year for a final project.

When he gets some time off from school I'm going to have him look at Elsinore and see what he can do with it.

@stillshinen
Open lxterminal
Type "sudo ifconfig"
On the second line it has "inet address" followed by 10 numbers. Write them down.
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.x:8080/controller
Replace the x's and . with your x's and .
Type this into any browser, I use chrome on my phone

Have had the Hosehead 5BC for a couple weeks, squeezed in my first brew this weekend. I installed Craftbeerpi, and I have to say, I'm really happy with with the system.

Would love a pressure sensor to monitor volume someday.

I just did my first brew using the Hosehead (HH) controller and first all-electric. I will say I made some changes in my kettle while converting from gas to electric and there were some issued related to that. Concerning the HH did anyone have any issued turning Off the pump? I had to unplug the pump 90% of the time as my cell phone would control HH for the pump function. I would hear a click as if it was about to turn it off but nothing would happen. I would even try refreshing the browsers and nothing. I thought that maybe it was a Wi-Fi connectivity issue. So to test the Wi-Fi I was able to change temperature, change auto to manual and or turn element on/off without any issues. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this issue or if there is any easy fix other than sending it back for warrantee work? Thanks in advance.

This is going to sound demeaning, but did you try both "pump" buttons? It's easy to have them pointing to the wrong plug, the clicking could have been from "pump 2" turning on/off instead of "pump 1".

Also, I agree Corey's customer service is amazing.
