Howdy,

I've been looking on their site wondering what to get...

I'm going up to Austin in a few weeks and I'm planning on picking up 2 or 3 kits from Austin Home Brew.

Whats the difference between their

"AHS Beginner Gold Seal Extract Recipe Kits"

and the

"AHS Recipe Kits"

??

The beginner one are a few bucks cheaper but not a whole lot...

Thanks guys

The beginner kits say they are 'designed for beginners' (obviously), so they do not offer options for mini-mash or all grain, and they also do not offer options for yeast.
My guess is that they have a small amount of steeping grains and come with a dry yeast packet.

On furthur review the ingredients list shows why they are cheaper...

Contains: Specialty grains, liquid malt extract, malto dextrin (to improve body), yeast hulls (to improve fermentation), corn sugar, hops, dry yeast and detailed instructions. Makes 5 US gallons.

Yeast hulls and corn sugar, so there is also likely less extract than in the regular kits.
