My brother in law sent me rhizomes for Cascade, Chinook and Centennial hops. I planted them this spring when I put my veggies in. It took a while for them to get going but wow, now the Chinook is going great guns and the Cascade isn't far behind. The Centennial looks healthy but just isn't growing very fast.

In any case the pleasant surprise is the cones on the Chinook. Things I had read made me think I wouldn't see any the first year but I am getting a pretty good crop so far. If all goes well, I could be using these in a batch for my Christmas brew!

Just reviewed the plants I started this season and to my amazement, I have cones on my cascade plant. I was under the assumtion that first year potential was limited, but it looks like I too will be getting some fresh hops from this plant.

My other hop plants are growing well, but no signs of flowers or cones.

Salute! :mug:
