Im thinking about what I am going to make next and thought that I may end up with a small kit in the next week or so (other than my Mr. Beer). Wondering if a pumpkin beer would be good? Never tried one. What are they like? Anyone have any good recipes for one?

Yuri's Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale seems to get the best reviews around here. They use real pumpkin which is good but causes a large amount of sediment.

This is a 6 gallon batch so you can scale it to whatever size you are looking for.

Here are a list of some to try before you try to make one.

Personally I enjoy the pumpkin variety in the fall and stronger warmer brews in the winter(Scottish Strong, Barleywine, Heafty Stouts) Have you looked into any of the Brooklyn Brewing Kits. They are a 1 gallon Brew in a bag(BIAB) and they make some pretty good beer. The Coffee Donut Stout is very good. 40$ gets you what you need or you can part it together from your own LHBS

Good Luck, Have fun and keep the ?'s coming

Pumpkin beers are ok They're fun during autumn and some professional brewers make exceptional pumpkin beer but mostly it's just blah.
