I did my first double decoction today it took about 6 hours from mash in to carboy. But after sparging the grains there was this funny looking gray goo on top the grains. Never seen that before even with other all grain batches. Any insight would be great thank you.

I did a single for a hefe this week with similar looking results after sparging. I was figuring it was protein or something like that.
