I mixed up a 2000mL starter that bubbled away for 2 days before I put it in the fridge overnight to settle out. I brought it up to room temp on brew day and poured off all but a few ounces of liquid. The settled yeast on the bottom had a weird filmy-ness to it, almost like the skin you get on top of heated milk. I swirled like crazy and most of the yeast was re-suspended but there were quite a few chunks left. Anyone experience this before?

Sounds like they just packed down tightly from being in the fridge overnight. When I do starters with intermittent shaking I usually wind up with a few chunks before I give it a good shake each time. I wouldn't worry about it.

The chunks are normal especially with highly flocculent yeast. The film is what I would worry about more...
