Usually- it depends on the lips of the bottle. I have found that it works about 75% of the time with a floor corker.
I've had some success with my all in one capper/corker. I've never tried the hand corker.
As long as the glass in the neck doesn't look thin and cheap, you'll be fine...and if you're worried about it, drink those first.
