I've been looking all morning for a recipe for a Sam Adams type beer. I'm brand new to brewing, so it's got to be easy and not a lager. I could do a lager style (not a true lager), since I do have a cool basement (55 to 60 degrees), but I don't have a place to really chill below that. If anyone has a recipe for an extract brew, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Lorena

You could do an ale like Boston Ale. (I personally like Boston Ale more than Boston Lager.) Perhaps look up a recipe for an American Ale but substitute in noble hops instead of American hops. The varieties that the brewer's at Sam Adams use are listed on their website. Clone Brews by Tess and Mark Szamatulski has a recipe for Boston Lager (I'd put it up, but its copyrighted).

Here is thread worth reading through.
