I just came back to brewing after a couple of year break. It has been hard to remember all of the little things that used to be habit. Such as, how much Whirlfolc to add. I have a bag of it in powdered form, not tablets. Should have searched it because it turns out I added about 10g into 18gal. wort. Searching the forums it looks like the tablets weigh 2.5g each and 2 tablets are good for 25gal. So I needed 3.6g and I added 10g. What's the big deal you ask?

My hydrometer was reading 1.080 instead of 1.070 at the end of the boil and behaved as if it was in jello (e.g. when I tilted it to the side it stayed that way instead of coming back up to vertical). I brewed this beer before and all parameters were exactly the same.

On the bright side it was the tightest trub cone I have ever seen.

I will post the results of this experiment.
