I've got a Pale Ale that I just started drinking. It has a bit of an Earthy taste to it, and I'm not quite sure what it's from. I wouldn't call it an off flavor, it's just different. Here's the recipe...
8 1/4lbs MO
1/2lb Crystal 90
1/2lb Crystal 120
1/2lb Carapils
1/2oz Centennial(10.1%) FWH
3/4 oz Centennial @ 60
1oz EKG(4.8%) @ 15
1/2 oz EKG @ 5
Dry Hopped 10 days w/ 3/4oz Centennial & 1/4oz KEG
Mashed for 60 minutes @ 154*
1.056 OG, Pitched 1 packet of US05, FG was 1.016
IBU's are at about 49
Bottled on 6/24 with 2/3c Cane Sugar
Anyhow, i'm not real crazy about this earthy taste I'm getting,I'm thinking it could also be from the 120. Your critique's and suggestions are appreciated.
Thx
