Do I have to keep the beer in the corny keg cold immediately, or can it be stored at room temperature until it is ready to go into the kegerator?

It can be kept room temp as long as you want...

but don't try to force carb it at room temp. get it cold when you hook up the gas. much easier and more consistent.

Right now I store mine in the garage at around 45 degrees.

Normally though, I store mine in the basement around 68 degrees.

Make sure to purge the O2 out with a blast of CO2 though.
