When it is said a '1 Liter Starter' this means the amount of volume of wort in the starter, right? Or does it mean the final result should be 1 Liter of pitchable slurry?

I ask this because of adding sugar to 'step up' the size of the starter.

I'm assuming it means 1 Liter of wort but thought I'd clarify...

Thanks

Don't use sugar to make a starter with. The yeast get used to the sugar and will be unable to ferment the more complex sugars contained in the wort. Use LME or DME to make a 1040 OG starter.
