For the heat stick users out there, have you noticed any carmelization from the direct contact of the heating element on the wort? Pale ales coming out more of an amber?
Building a heat stick seems like a great supplement to my sissy little appartment stove burner but I like those light SRMs too.

I only use my heatsticks for heating mash and sparge water, so I can't say from firsthand experience. I would assume that, yes, this could happen.

My boiler has two immersed elements. 1380w and 2300w. Used it on five batches now. Haven't noticed any problems. My pales are pale, I brewed edwort's haus and it came out more or less the same colour.

I get no scortching or anything on the elements, just a little beerstone type stuff.
