Batch sparge-stirring before first runnings

Any thoughts about stirring before initial vorlauf/runnings (batch sparge)? I have read different techniques from folks here and see it both ways.

I don't bother as I tend to stir the mash every 15 minutes of so.

I always give it a good stir, don't think it probably matters a whole bunch. I do stir once or twice during the mash too.
