My first attempt at an all grain set up

hoping to get some opinions from the experienced masses. i'm about to pull the trigger on an all grain system, but the lady wont have me get the exact one i want due to finances. i was wondering if anyone has had any luck with the Weld-b-gone SS kettle adapters? i was planning on doing one of those on a 40 qt pot and then i found a great deal on a tun http://www.homebrewers.com/category/beerlsupplies.5/
$90 for the cooler, sparge arm and false bottom. i would just do thier set up but i already have a wort chiller. any thoughts on this? any suggestions? thanks for your help, and i'm sure a million people have asked a similar question.

I'm sorry, that Mash tun looks like junk...and for 90 bucks, you'd be getting ripped off...for like 50 you can make your own that has an actual ball valve at the outlet. Also from the looks of it probably uses a plastic false bottom...just make your own, but a cooler, get a koolerkit bulk head and a false bottom...it'll take like 15 min and cost less money

They don't get into too many details or detailed pictures for that matter. I'd be cautious. If you don't mind batch sparging, you could build the same for $20 over the price of the cooler itself.

yeah, thanks to you guys i did some research and found flyguys set up, and i think i may replicate that. i've heard people telling me about the cheap cost of it but it doesn't add up to me. did you follow fly guys instructions?

or do you have something better in mind? thanks for all the help! also should i just invest in the ten gal cooler, even though i plan on making five gal batches for now? seems like it's only a little more money for the cooler, i just can't justify a huge pot AND a propane cooker to the lady

Many of us have had success with Denny's set-up: http://hbd.org/cascade/dennybrew/

I followed his instructions with a 52-QT Coleman Extreme, and it works great. Overall cost around $40, including cooler.

Just for the record, that's a differant Denny than me. He's much older and I'm better looking.

But since he's also fairly brilliant he can have the same name.

i just did a similar project to Flyguys (you rule for that post). i used a slightly longer braid and a neoprene gasket on the inside, due to lack of a 5/8" SS washer. held hot water for five hours without a single drop leaking! next attempt is a sparge arm/system...
