I've just started my first brew. It's sg is 1030 and I've been told to give it a week to 10 days to finish fermenting.

I have a couple of questions. Do I need to check the sg again to make sure it's finished. If so I've seen people say the sample the draw off to check things are going well. I believe yeast can give you a dicky tummy. Is there a problem with sampling a batch too early?

Cheers.

i always check it 1st before fermentation
2nd during. and then near the end. it will give you a fair idea.

it is fine to taste. gives you a bit of an idea what it will be like. just what ever you do dont put the sample back in to the fermenter. its just not worth risking an infection. you can reck your whole brew. i cant believe some people do that...
