Tasting Notes
Hint of honey.... robust flavor
This is one of my Favorite beers I make
Ingredients:
4.5 lbs American 2 row
2.5 lbs White wheat
.5 lb Honey Malt
.5 lb Wheat Flaked
1 lb Liquid Honey
1 oz Cascade 60 min
.5 oz Cascade 10 min
.5 oz Cascade at Flameout

I do a partial boil of 4 gallons(due to equipment), with a top off of 2 gallons of water in the fermenter.

Do you add the Honey at the start of Boil? Also have you experimented with moving this addition time around?

My last Honey beer was 1 Lb at 30 min, and 1 Lb at Flameout, and I think it was way too much and too late. Thoughts?

I make a very popular (with the women in my family) honey wheat that uses 2.5 lbs of honey in a 5 gal batch, added with 2 minutes left in the boil. Honey flavor is noticeable, but not overpowering. I don't use any honey malt, but have heard a little goes a long way, so it is easy to get too much honey flavor with it. If using honey malt, start with an established recipe to get some idea of how much to use.

Brew on :mug:
