How sweet should fermenting beer smell

Just as the title says? My beer is six days into it, I opened it up and it smells very sweet, and it is almost to FG. I still have to dry hop it in the secondary, will this take it away or does all beer smell like this at first? I hate sweet beer and i really hope this one is not sweet. Its an Pale ale recipe.

Like bananas? It's the yeast. It'll go away in secondary, plus hops.

No not really, just a general sweet smell. Im gonna transfer it on sun. so we will see.

Taste it.
After 6 days it shouldn't taste sweet.

That's the beauty of a hydrometer. You know and you can taste the sample.

Thats malt aroma you're smelling. You can't really smell sweetness.

U.S. 56. Im probably gonna take a taste when i rack into the secondary.
