How do you folks orient your trel... (trellises? trellisi?)?

I've got a pretty open back yard so I could do either. I'm assuming it would be best to take advantage of the southern exposure.
 
Here's my back yard (very roughly).
Light Green are trees and my garden.
Red is the fire pit.
Blue is the horseshoe pit.

I'm thinking of putting the hops in a 2 row linear bed between the red circle and the light green blotch (running east-west). It sounds like there is plenty of leeway in how you plant them.
