Hi all..I know that it is said that if one re-uses yeast it shouldn't be done beyond 5 or 6 generations. Does the yeast built up in a starter count as a generation? I normally keep some from the 1st starter and use it as a "mother". Any ideas...thanks

I successfully reused WL004 for something like fifty generations. I saved some primary slurry for a starter and brewed my house pale ale more or less continuously. Finally I got curious and brewed a batch with fresh yeast. Nobody could tell the difference. YMMV
