I need to use maltodextrin powder for the first time. I understand what it does but do no understand when is the appropriate time to add it? During boil, knockoff, after fermentation ?

I like adding it at the last 5-10 minutes of the boil, it allows for it to be integrated with the wort and kills any potential bacteria off. Haven't heard any issues from adding it sooner, but I can't think of any benefits either.
