I'm bumping this because I'm drinking one now and really like this. It's got everything I really like in "celtic" ales. I want to brew something really close to this. It's malty, and hoppy and fruity and carmally all in perfect balance.

Bumping again...also since I am drinking one for the first time. My last attempt at a Red Ale was nothing like this. Anyone have any ideas? Or direction as to what style this Celtic Red is....although I would assume its an Irish Red.

I made an ordinary bitter a while back and used 1/2 a lb. of crisp amber malt, it had a very similar flavor. So this is what I'm going to try:

5.5 us gal

malt
10 lbs. rahr 2-row
1 lb. muntons crystal 50-60
.5 lbs. crisp amber
2 oz. roasted barley

hops
1.5 oz. ekg @ 5.0 aa (60)
.5 oz. ekg (5)

yeast S-04

I'll let you all know how it turns out, Cheers.
