Lager yeast or ale yeast?

How does one brew with non-live yeast? :D
 
not dehydrated yeast but a live larger yeast
tried it years ago at 4 deg cel but it did not change gravity stayed at about 1040

Not sure what you are talking about but if your gravity didn't change the yeast did no fermentation. I know ale yeast would be dormant at that temperature and lager yeast probably would be also.
