Earlier in the week I went to the 2009 unveiling of Deschutes Abyss. Today I started searching for what yeast Deschutes uses and came across an article in Brewpublic http://brewpublic.com/beer-personalities/larrysidor/ with Larry Sidor, Deschutes brewmaster. On the way home today I was passing John's Market http://www.johnsmarketplace.com/ and Deschutes was doing an Abyss, Black Butte XI and Mirror Mirror tasting. I stop in to pick upa few beers and Larry Sidor was there chatting people up. Talk about a nice guy - he answered all sorts of brewing and ingredient recipes, including a bit of history of Citra hops. He agrees that we will all be seeing a lot more of this variety. In any case, super nice guy, super beer and hop geek - makes me enjoy Deschutes all the more.

I always like it when you meet people of a product you like and they're actually good people. Unfortunately sometimes the opposite is true though too. There was a restaurant that a lot of my friends' liked, but the owner was so rude in the couple of interactions I had with him, I couldn't eat there.

Glad to hear you had a good experience!

I like Deschutes, I really like Deschutes. They make awesome beer. Now that you said the brewmaster is a good guy, I like them even more. J
