Has anyone smoked specialty grains for an extract beer? I was curious about this as I love smoked anything but wont be doing all grain beers for a while. Anyone got any advice or suggestions on how to go about this?

Go buy some peat smoked malt and use about 0.25 lbs for 5 gallons for your first time. Yes; that's a quarter of a pound ..... it is potent stuff. Steeping will extract the smoke from the malt.

NOTE: This is Peat smoked malt. Cherry smoked, Rauch smoked, alderwood smoked, or any other is not the same. You will need several pounds of these other types to get a similar smoked effect.
