Hello everyone,

A week ago I had my first try steeping grains. I wouldent say it was a success, but time will tell. I used a friends equipment, but would like to get some of my own. My question is if a bazooka tube (or other such device) can be used for recirculating / sparging or is a false bottom a must?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think that you need either one of those items for steeping grains. I just put them in a muslin bag while they steep.

I use bazooka tubes in both the mash tun and the kettle. I use a pump to recirculate and batch sparge. My efficiency is fine. I've never had the mash bazooka clog, but have to be careful when I use more than 4 oz. of pellets in the kettle.
