When I dissolve the corn sugar into some boiling water.. how long does it have to boil before I cool it and put it into the bottling bucket?? and how cool does it have to be before I bottle?? Thank you..
 
Personally, I boil for ten minutes. I get it cooled, but don't stress too much; the thermometer stays in the drawer. If the bottom of the pot is only warm to the touch, that's good enough for me - it's such a small percentage of the total volume of the beer, as long as it's not scalding, it should be OK.
 
Thanks. I just got done making another batch... Is 1.042 too low of a S.G. ???
