I just returned from the LHBS with a new hop, Nelson Sauvin. Here is the desription.

2008 crop. Alpha 11%, Beta 6.5% This hop displays fresh crushed gooseberries, a descriptor used for Sauvignon Blanc and has the unique ability to impart a distinctive cool climate white wine fruitiness. Also displays a bold hop character.

Has anyone brewed with this or heard anything about it from other homebrewers? I think I will be using this as some late additions and dry hop on 1/2 of my next batch of Centennial blonde.

I threw together a recipe a while back to potentially use these hops because they sounded very interesting and promptly forgot all about it...thanks for the reminder!

I used it an a beer I made last year and Natas used it in an IPA. Word of warning, it is a strong flavor hop. A little bit goes a long way. The strong lager I made with it turned out nice. I was shooting for a dry stronger lager with the Sauvignon Blanc character.

Yeah, I made an APA using this as the only hop. It was very nice indeed - pleasantly fruity. As tfries says, it is quite strongly flavored, but nevertheless I'd highly recommend it.

I just got some.

I have a recipe that sits around 70IBU and I think I'll give it a go with these.
Any opinion has to whether I should just use them for bittering hops or across the board?
