I'm looking to do some experimenting with different flavors of soda, but I know NOTHING about how to make soda.

Any of you know an easy resource for learning how to mix ingredients, where to get ingredients, etc?

Though that book is a good resource, I felt it a bit limiting at times. I've been leaning towards a simple process of creating a base (water, sugar, honey, citric acid) and then adding flavoring to that. Fresh fruit, herbs and spices can be quite fun to play with.

Can you give the basic recipe and process for your base?

Do you have any basic guidelines for how much flavor (fruit, spice, etc.) to add and how long to simmer, soak, etc.

Also, where do you buy citric acid?

soda is pretty simple, basically flavored sugar water. no brewing or fermenting required.

carbonate it, and it becomes soda.

that's why coca-cola and pepsi have been able to make trillions of dollars over the years.
