Hops from seed...nice suprise.

My girlfriend ordered hop seeds last year from some catolog and planted them next to our garden. It wasn't a catolog for growing hops, it was just an item offered so she ordered them and just wanted to grow the vine and maybe get some hop buds. She said they often sell them just as a vine. So I was like no big deal and after last year all vine and no buds we decided they were all male plants. But while weeding the garden I noticed buds, big buds and they smelled, well like hops. I only got about 20 buds but what a nice suprise to find I do have female plants. Can't wait until next years crop! One small problem is she can't remeber where she got them or if they even mentioned what kind. I guess I will try a comparison smell test and try to label them but if not no big deal.

Most places I've seen seeds don't list a variety. They sell them as ornamental plants.

Now I need to start weeding the hops, we almost pulled them out so I could plant known female rizhomes.
