I was talking with some locals and they had suggested that I might have trouble growing hops here in the Bismarck, ND area. That, or they might not be able to keep returning perenially, though I don't think that's necessarily the case. Can anyone tell me if my geographical location is going to pose some hazards or difficulty in growing hops? I already know about the wind and the hail, but the summer heat shouldn't be more than 100 at its worst. Luckily, it's pretty dry overall here.

PS: I haven't received my rhizome shipment from DIY yet, though I've ordered over a week ago. Any idea if these guys are just slow or if there's some problem I'm unware of?

Hot, dry and way North. Sounds a lot like Yakima, WA. Stick with early maturing hops & you should be fine.

Thanks, David. That's what I had figured. Here's the rhizomes I ordered:

1 Magnum
1 Sterling
1 Cascade
1 Mt. Hood

Hopefully those'll do ok up here.
