Hello all,

I'm new to making cider and I hope you can help me some questions I have a gallon of Organic Apple juice that I added one cup of white granulated sugar to. The juice is fermenting with S 04 yeast.

Here are the questions,

1. Would anyone want to give a rough guess as to the OG of the juice?

2. It has been fermenting for one week. How long should it ferment before bottling? I want to Carb in the bottle.

3. What type and how much sugar should I prime with?

well, og is probaly going to be 1.055+ , maybe rack, or just leave in there for a month. And to carbonate use like 1 ounce of priming sugar or household sugar, but i guess with cider bottle bombs are an issue. Those are my thoughts, but im sure someone give you better answers. I just started my first 5 gallon batch of cider 2 weeks ago, and i guess it takes a long time to condition, so i plan on not drinking any for like 2-3 months, i think im goiing to bottle in like 3 weeks though, or i may bulk age, idk.

Good luck, George
