Not exactly. Scotch ale comes from Belgium. Scottish Ale comes from Scotland. They are similar in many ways, but they are differnt styles.Todd said:

When most people think of Scotch ale, they actually are referring to 'Scottish Ale'. Belgian Scotch Ales are hard to find - at least I've never seen them and only recently knew they even existed. Cetainly never had one!
Here's more info on the style
The Sammy version is a Scottish Ale. One of my favotire styles. Here's a McTarnahan's clone that you might like. And you can certianly try your hand at my Scotch Ale recipe!

Saying that Scotch Ales come from Belgium (although there are some made there) is like saying that Pilseners originated in the USA.
