I know sniffing the primary isn't a good idea because the smell of yeast is overpowering, but my O-fest which I am pseudo-lagering with Wyeast Kolsch yeast.

I know it's a winey yeast, but it smells like a Reisling.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I just began cold crashing.

I brewed an Octoberfest-type beer once and it too had a strong wine/cider smell. I figure it was either old LME, high ferment temps, or perhaps a combination of the two. Pretty sure the temps played a major role. I was in a bit of a hurry - it was getting late - and pitched too warm. Fermentation took off like crazy and my fridge just couldn't keep up with it.

The flavor did dissipate some over time, but it never cleared up completely.

Well, my ferment temps were fine @ 57°f for the Kolsch yeast.

I can lager outside now for a month, so maybe I'll try that.
