Hi all, long time reader here but this is my first post. I am in the planning stages of kegerator similar to pub phun http://www.alenuts.com/pub.htm . Just wanted some opinions on something.

When he built that, he has a 1 inch area aroun the freezer to allow for ventialton along with a fan. I as thinking af using a vinyl skin of this stuff: http://www.quarterarcade.com/Game.aspx/1983 instead and just using construction adhesive to put some trim around the sides. The top of mine would basically be the same as his. Do you think the vinyl will transfer the heat fromthe sides of the freezer well enough? Or will this cause the compressor to have to work too much?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

That should be no problem whatsoever. The issue with wood is that it acts as an insulator with the tiny pockets of air inside the wood grain.

This vinyl material is not much more than shelf-liner, essentially big pieces of tape. This is an excellent solution to the problem. It may not look as shiny and perfect as Pub Phun's, but it will be considerably cheaper and easier to build.
