Repair or replace cooling unit

Hi all,

I just got hold of a -47 Philco fridge (model A622) for literally nothing ($15). It is in really good condition and looks great, but it is not working.

I do not know what the problem is, and i haven't researched it yet. My question is if it is worth trying to troubleshoot and repair it, or should I try to install a new cooling unit. Is that even doable?

Any tips regarding trouble shooting is highly appreciated.

It would look awesome as a beer fridge...

The older refrigerators are more repairable than what they sell these days - try to find a good Refrigeration man and offer him some homebrews...

LOL...I'm not sure you know what the word "literally" means. :cross:

Actually, I think I do. But I rewrote that sentence a couple of times, and managed to mess it up.
