Yesterday, I kegged two batches of Kölsch and after emptying one bucket fermenter, I put the lid on and put it back in my chest freezer where it was crash cooled. It's been sitting there at 39 degrees since yesterday.

This afternoon, I want to brew another Kölsch, but this time with some rainwater from a neighbor.

Am I OK will dropping my chilled wort on this yeast cake that has been kept refrigerated since yesterday? I'm thinking it should be.

Worked out great. I pulled the bucket out of my chest freezer when I started the chill the wort. Just dumped it on top, gave it a 45 second shot of O2, and in less than an hour, I have airlock activity. "Wow" is all I can say.

Very cool and I just saved $7.00 and a trip to the LHBS (another 10 bucks in gas, plus about 2 hours of my time which is priceless).
