Ok so I plan on brewing a bitter this Saturday.
6lb 2-row
.5lb c-120
.25 special roast
I have 2-oz of E.K. Golding pellet and 2-oz E.K. Golding whole hops (that I was greatfully given). My hop schedule was originally with pellets as follows:
1oz @ 60 min - 20 IBU
.5oz @ 30 min - 8 IBU
.5oz @ 1 min - 0 IBU
Since I was given the whole hops I was thinking on changing it to:
1oz pellet hops @ 60 min - 20 IBU
.6oz (16 grams) whole hops @ 30 min - 8 IBU
.75oz (21 grams) whole hops @ 1 min - 1 IBU
I read several places u get 10% better utilization from pellet than whole hops. Both pellet and whole hops are 5%AA.
Any advice? I've never used fresh hops before....
Thanks
