all of my plants are centennial i have 40. 1 4yr 10 3yr and the rest are this years cuttings. 3 have 12"+ side arms going(which i love closes my trellis in) some have 3-4" sidearms which are flowering. any ideas why some get the long sidarms and some dont.

Different varieties have different lengths. If they are the same variety, usually the more mature plants show more mature types of sidearms for that variety. Sometimes the young ones emulate the older ones and begin to flower on shorter sidearms. If that's not the case, well, I just don't know?

lol thats what baffles me. the 4yr has the biggest. 8 of the 3yrs have flowers on shorties. 1 3yr has long ones. the new guys are a mixed bag as well. lol it appears that my hops have a mind of their own then
