Finally have nailed my porter recipe after more than a year. First recipe I am posting here because I believe it is awesome both times Ive made it and it is worth sharing. 30 Days from brew date to pint. Amazing stuff. (never had a darker beer taste so good, so early)


- Zippy Porter 2013 -

10lb 2 Row US Pale
2lb Munich Organic 10L
.4lb Crystal 40L
.4lb Crystal 75L
.6lb Belgian Chocolate
.2lb Black

.5oz Magnum .5oz EKG (60)
1oz EKG (5)


Mash 4.5 gal @ 151º
Sparge 4.5gal @ 185º

Pacman 1.5L Starter

Same Recipe but lose the black Patent and bump up the mash temp. I am drinking the porter now and will probably mash @ 152º next time for just a bit more sweetness, but this is a DAMN FINE PORTER. As good as any commercial American Porters I've tried, Reminds me of Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter, but I know they use Cascade. TASTY.

The Brown when mashed @ 153º gives a massive malty-chocolate flavor on the palate, but not overwhelming as my brother in law does not care much for browns and really enjoyed this. I love the chocolate and munich combo, just MONEY!

The Pacman is the real treat here, does not mask malty flavors as I thought it might. Hops shine here as well, just as they should. This is the new house strain for me. Browns, Porters, AB Clone, IPAs. All Great!
