I am 20 minutes into my boil and just noticed small white chunks floating in my yeast starter after a good shake...it looked like it was snowing. It smells a little bitter not pungent. It this sign of an infection? Thanks.

What was the source of the yeast? Its almost certainly fine, but if its a fresh packet or vial of yeast there's almost no chance its infected unless you used a very unsanitary method of making a yeast starter.

I suppose the type of yeast might also matter here.

White chunks are probably yeast by the way.

Wyeast British Ale II #1335...I am usually very sanitary when I brew. The scrubbed the flask and gave it a good soak in star san.

English strains are notoriously flocculant (WLP002/WY1968 often looks like cottage cheese!), so it all sounds completely normal.
