I am planning on brewing up a batch of Orfy's Mild Mannered Ale but I don't have any Marris Otter. I was thinking instead of using Pale 2-Row + a small amount of Vienna to add the malty backbone that the Marris Otter would normally provide. Does this make any sense? Should I use a slightly darker grain like a Munich instead of the Vienna? Or should I skip both and just go with the Pale 2-Row as is and get what I get? Thanks for the input.

Cheers :mug:,

Greg

I've done what you describe several times and have had good results. Not the same as Maris Otter, but good malt flavor anyway.

I don't think it will be quite so Mild Mannered anymore, but Vienna will add a nice maltiness. I make a beer with a 100% Vienna grain bill and it's great. Vienna is definitely not the same as Marris Otter.
