I just upgraded to an Erlenmeyer flask with a stir plate. On the first two times I've use it, I have had problems controlling the "hot break" when boiling up my DME. The thought occurred to me to try a single drop of FemCap. Anybody done it?

I use it everytime as well, but you still need to watch it. I have a 1000ml flask and still get boilovers even when using it.

Oh boy! I wish I would have seen this thread BEFORE my 5 boil-overs today in my 2L flask... Will remember this for next time :)

I make 1250ml starters in a 2000ml flask and always use 1 drop fermcap. It's magical at stopping boil overs. Would never boil in a flask without it.

I'm the OP. Tried it today and it worked wonders. 1 liter in a 2 liter flask... Not even close to a boil over! :mug:
