Here's an easy English Pale Ale

9 lb. 2-row
0.5 lb. Crystal 60
0.5 lb. Victory

0.75 oz E.K. Goldings 5.7% 90 min
0.5 oz. E.K. Goldings 30 min
0.5 oz. E.K. Goldings 5 min

Mash grain at 154 for 1 hour. Sparge with 170 water to collect about 7 gallons. Start boil, and hop to schedule. You will end up somewhere around this:

OG: 1.054
SRM: 8
IBU: 32

Pitch whatever yeast seems good to you. WLP-002, 005, 006, 013, 023 All are good choices.

I have never brewed this, I just came up with it on the spot, but should work just fine. Unless you're looking for something different...;)

How about a stout? Here's the down and dirty approach using roughly the 90%/10% ratio for grain.

8 lb. 2-row
0.75 lb. Roasted Barley

0.5 oz Target 11.5% 90 min
0.5 oz Target 30 min

Procedure same as the above recipe.

OG: 1.048
SRM: 28
IBU: 44

Again use any yeast that you like, including WLP-001, 002, 004, 013
