I want to try to make a Dead Guy Clone and the recipes that I found on this forum call for Munich grains. This may be a dumb question, but do I need to get the grains cracked? Also, are hop pellets recommended?

Yes, all specialty grains need to be cracked; most online sources and lhbs will mill the grain for you. Hop pellets are easier to work with if you are just starting out but ultimately hops are hops. Most online sources will send pellets.

For those who have made the Dead Guy Clone...how much influence will the malt extract play in the final product. Is 50:50 wheat/barley fine? Which brands have people liked and not liked for this clone or doesn't it matter much?

I wouldn't use wheat. I'm not a wheat beer fan at all, though! The recipe is really good, pretty dead on for Dead Guy. I wouldn't change it.

Brand of DME doesn't matter- I think I've used Muntons in the past.
