HDPE cooler

Hey all,

I'm going to be building a mash tun from a 10 gallon cooler. I went shopping around for one and am finding some coolers, but none of them specifically call out that they are made from HDPE.

Are there certain brands that only make HDPE?
Are all coolers 5 gallons and up just assumed to be made of HDPE?

I want to be sure to get something that will withstand the temps that I will be mashing with and wont leach unwanted eveil into my ale.

There were a few heated threads on this lately.

Igloo is considered OK by some, I would do a search.

I have the GOTT ( I think Industrial ) by Igloo I don't know what if any difference there is but I haven't had any warping problems that people with regular Igloo's have reported

AFAIK no cooler has ever leached any unwanted eveil...maybe i missed that memo

Thanks for the link DeafSmith. Good read. I had read about the need to specifically find a cooler made of HDPE as it was approved to withstand 170F+ temps requried to mash without leaching toxins. Great detailed report provided in that post you sent!
