Tasting Notes
Very, very nicely balanced. Malt and hops are great co-stars in this recipe.

Really happy with this one. A buddy and I brewed a 10 gallon batch and dry hopped one half with 2 oz of Nugget and the other half with 1oz Nugget & 1 oz Cascade. I'm really liking the 2row / MO split for the base grains too. Below is a pic of both batches during dry hop.

This looks good, I've yet to brew a black ipa, and I love nugget hops, so this is going on the list.

Please let us know how this one turns out!

This was bottled on 10/12, my buddy sampled the first one on 10/26.

His comments on the version dryhopped with only nugget: "this is like a grapefruit kick to the face and then a bonfire finish. great citrus and i love the mix of MO and 2-row, good malt backbone."

His comments on the version dryhopped with nugget & cascade: "a milder version, i should have tried this one first. more mellow and earthy which makes it a more complex sipper, especially as it gets closer to room temp."

My tasting notes:

1.5 finger tan creamy head, meringue-like lacing. Basically black, dark brown at edges. Floral, citrusy nose. Grapefruity, slightly herbal. Good body, smooth. Nice hints of toasty malt mixed with bitterness, noticeable MO presence but restrained enough for a good malt balance. This one goes down really, really easy and leaves you wanting the next pint.

here's a pic of the pint

That's great to hear! I might try a version of this, substituting out for Pac Man yeast. Thanks for this recipe, and especially for the detailed tasting notes. Sounds awesome!

Thanks, I hope you like it! I'm drinking one right now and I'm thinking of going for another glass :cross:
