I'm wondering if making a batch of root beer will flavor my plastic fermenters? Do I need a dedicated root beer barrel?
Thanks!

I think I just figured it out. Ferments in bottles not a primary.
Excuse the newb

Most likely. With a lot of effort you can get the flavors out, but Root Beer tends to "stick" pretty bad to anything. If you have the resources to dedicate a fermenter to it, it would save you a lot of soaking and cleaning to try and de-rootbeer your vessel.

Anything rubber or plastic will smell like root beer. I would recommend a dedicate keg for rootbeer or you can plan on replacing ALL rubber parts to include poppits before you can EVER put beer back in the keg. It will give your beer a nice root beer aroma. Good idea using glass.
