The thermapen is hands down the best thermometer on the market. This is the newer model that is splash proof and has the huge LED readout. I have purchased several 15-20 dollar thermometers only to have them crap out after a few months when steam or water hits them. The $100 price tag puts the thermometer out of the reach of a lot of people (including me) but with the 20% off now it's pretty tempting. I'm probably gonna order one.

Go to the link below, type in thermapen in the search and add to cart. Discount is added at checkout. There is a manual promo code of RT91212 if you cannot get the link to work.

The promo code that you provided, while the correct one, does not work with the link you provided for some strange reason. I have been a long time customer of KA (I am a baker) and I receive their emails and got the one about the 20%. It worked and I was able to get the 20% discount. I suppose if you call and mention the promo code they will honor the 20% discount. They have always been very easy to deal with. Montanaandy

That is a heck of a deal. I got my Thermapen (the new splash-proof model) when they first come out, and it is just excellent. I'd jump all over this one, and I wouldn't care if the only colors available were puce or magenta.

Thats a shame because I have a blue one and they are by far the most accurate.:p;)

LOL nice! Well luckily red is my favorite color, although seeing all the varieties on the thermoworks site makes me wonder...

The sale ends at midnight tonight. I still haven't pulled the trigger... I need to :p

"I can't bring myself to drop 80 on a thermometer" - I hear ya. However, I have been running into problems with different readings from my digital & old school thermometers (they all vary a few degrees) and I guess that I rationalize it by amortizing the cost over the time/amount of money that I spend brewing and the fact that it will (hopefully) allow me to nail my AG temps. I love mine. When I saw this title I figured it would be the old model but it is the new one with the long battery life, splash proof, and tenth of a degree resolution. I couldn't drop 100 on a thermometer before, but at some point that was no longer true.

I have an addiction for high end gadgets for sure, so I've always wanted one. But I couldn't do the hundo for a thermometer. However I've managed to ruin two digital thermometers due to water/steam in about 6 months. They were I think 15 bucks each, and are slower to read temps and have a small LCD. Figure as long as I keep it a year and a half it will pay for itself, and It's much better to use.

Well and my grandma just mailed me a check for 75 dollars for christmas... Like it was meant to be.

And maybe you just need some thermaporn to get you ramped up to buy!

I forwarded this to my mom as I wanted a digital thermometer but this was a little out of the price range. The 20% off made it irresistible

I finally manned up and ordered mine. Looks like I waited a second too long, they are backordered into early January. Can't wait to get it tho!

Man, I would love to have one and I actually have it on my x-mas list, but it was one of those things that if I got it, I'd like it, but there is no way I'd spend my own money on one. I have a "turkey fryer" style thermometer with a 10" probe I'd guess and I calibrate it before every brew. I don't mind doing this. It only takes a couple of minutes and you know it's right.

I believe I spent $8 on that thermometer 3 years ago?

Just me chiming in,
J

Got a thermapen a week or two ago and its my best friend in the kitchen already. No more wondering how far off each cheap digital is today or waiting 30 seconds for a real reading. Its fantastic for quick checks of meat to be sure my food is cooked safely but not overdone. I've also been loving it for instant temps from the fermenter or hydrometer samples. It seems like a lot at once but I've spend enough money on cheapies over the years that frustrate me that I wish I just bought this from the start.

Code not working now..... so I have emailed them because chat line is down and do not feel like talking to anyone right now! we will see what they say. Maybe a new code for 2015?

Thanks

Best thermometer by far. I use mine as much or more in the kitchen for cooking. Instant read accurate. Want a perfect beef roast? hit the temp and it is there. Is you chicken cooked but not overcooked? Easy.

Want to check your mash temp? A couple of seconds is all you need.

I burned through many cheaper digital thermometers before spending the cash on the Therma pen. Now I wonder why I just not get it in the first place.
